They can give you directions at the observatory. If you have a little more time, just down the street is Ault Park which has sweeping views of the Miami valley and the old municipal airport. Furthermore, the area of homes adjacent (most were built by astronomers who worked at the observatory) is a historic district with walking tours (call to find out when) but overall I loved it. Kids will love the gadgetry and looking through the telescope(s) - yes there are more than one. ![]() LET ME START BY SAYING that none of it would have been possible without the volunteers including the one leading my tour - "Don" who was amazing! If you love the history of Cincinnati and the United States, astronomy, the story of our founders - some you'll know and some you should know, or just like good old fashioned story telling, you'll love this place. so then I end up on a street (again GPS) called Observatory Drive which got me thinking "I wonder if there's an observatory on Observatory Drive?" So I pulled the car over and googled. I was on my way back to Indianapolis from a business trip and my GPS took me through and area called "Mount Lookout" which got me thinking "I wonder if there's a lookout?" hmmm. If you like learning about our solar system and may be interested in telescopes, I encourage you to attend one of their many events. I would have loved to enjoy more of the inside museum, but it was too crowded to be able to access some of the displays easily. The tour and house telescope overview was very well done. We enjoyed the variation of the multiple telescopes. The presentations were at a perfect educational level for an adult without previous experience. The speaker was knowledgeableīut made the presentation at a level of understanding where I could understand it, learn and be able to ask questions. I enjoyed the presentation on the solar system and the impact of the solar flares the most. It was great that they did add more presentations and tours, because the site was busy. Even then, because attendance could be variable, they added additional presentations. It took us asking several volunteers as to the process of the daily events. The event didn't seem well organized or well marked. ![]() The observatory hosted a special event that day. We attended with some family and out of town visitors. ![]()
